I have lived an interesting life. Cashier, veterinary assistant, mall marketing assistant, bookkeeper, executive secretary, facilities design and management professional, attorney. During the first twenty or so years of my working life, I sat through countless hours of meetings and motivational presentations. I noticed that some of the same goofy management sayings kept cropping up time and time again, so I started writing them down for future use and reference.
Let’s be honest, i also kept them for good laughs later on, like during boring meetings.
Here, I break down those goofy sayings for you, giving you my version of the history (if any or known), the true meanings, the modern usage, and the longevity prospects.
I’d love to have more sayings to add to the list. Just send an email to me at iheardsay@gmail.com, and I may use it on my blog. I’ll be sure to give you credit if I do, so please be sure to include your first name and state or country of residence.
My best, to those out there slogging through boring meetings and trying to hold off doing “states and capitals” within the first five minutes.
